Around the Cathedral
The Cathedral is Aachen’s religious landmark – and always worth a visit, even if shopping is what’s really on your mind.
And you can get started with that as soon as you arrive at Münsterplatz. Exquisite jewellery and recommendable books, extra-salty liquorice and souvenirs of all kinds are a magnet for shopaholics.
But the quaint alleyways and corners around the Cathedral have even more to offer. Take a stroll along Krämerstraße, for example, towards the Market Place, and discover fine oils, exclusive tobacco pipes and aromatic coffee. Let your nose be your guide! A fine scent of “printen” biscuits fills the air, enticing passers-by into the many small cafés and patisseries in Aachen’s historic town centre.
Annastraße has a medieval flair. In this pretty side street with its heritage-listed buildings you’ll find exclusive shops selling art and delicatessen.
