ENVIRONMENTAL ZONE in Aachen
-
As of February 2016, Aachen has an Environmental Zone. For the most part, the boundary of the Environmental Zone follows Aachen’s outer ring road. In order to be able to drive your vehicle into Aachen’s city centre, you now need a so-called “Green Sticker”. Most vehicles already have the sticker, as many other cities already had an Environmental Zone before Aachen was obliged to introduce one.
Where do I get the Green Sticker?
You can get a Green Sticker – in person or online – from the Straßenverkehrsamt (Road Traffic Licensing Authority) of the City and Municipal Region of Aachen, from the TÜV (Technical Inspection Agency), DEKRA (German Motor Vehicle Inspection Association) and the GTÜ (German Association for Technical Inspection) as well as from many vehicle repair shops. And if I don’t have a Green Sticker?
Why not opt for the Park-&-Ride facilities at Waldfriedhof, Westfriedhof, Jülicher Straße or the Tivoli, from where you take a relaxing bus ride into the city centre.
